About Me
When people meet me for the first time, they’re shocked to learn how much I actually know about sports. Mostly because I don’t look like your typical sports fan. Also because I still act like an average girl — I have a closet and make-up collection you suckers would die for. To any other person, they might be annoyed by the ridiculous stereotype that’s placed upon them time after time, but for me, I’ve just learned to accept that most people are ignorant bastards. Good life lesson.
As far as my writing portfolio, I’m not a complete n00b. I’ve been a featured writing contributor for other sports blogs such as “The Sports Report Girl” and served as a copy editor for the Bleacher Report. I’m currently contributing my own quips and quibbles about the Oakland Raiders at TouchdownLA.
Being based in Northern California, most of the content of this blog is centered around those teams, more specifically the aforementioned Raiders as well as the San Jose Sharks, but I’ll occasionally touch on other topics, both local and national, as well as stories from the four major sports leagues NFL, MLB, NBA and NHL.
If you came here expecting objectivity, you’re in the wrong place. But you can expect a lot of sports knowledge, vulgarity and good times.
I like to write. I like sports. I like to have fun. I figure this is the way to marry all of my favorite things together.
About Stick ‘Em With the Pointy End
When Ned Stark, her father, asked if she knew what to do with her sword, Needle, Arya Stark replied, “Stick ‘em with the pointy end.” She’s described as:
“a spirited tomboy with an interest in fighting and exploring…Arya displays great resourcefulness, cunning, and an unflinching ability to accept hard necessity. She is skinny, athletic, and often mistaken for a boy.” [Source]
I named this blog after a quote from Arya because she’s one of my favorite characters from George R. R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire fantasy novels/Game of Thrones HBO series. She’s a rebellious, outspoken tomboy, and I’d like to think if she was a real person, this blog would embody her personality, in very much the same way she embodies mine. And I’m pretty sure she’d be a fan of the Oakland Raiders…I mean, she just seems like the type, no?
